President Jonathan signs N4.425tn 2015 budget

Reports by Punch, has claimed that the outgoing nigeria President, Jonathan has signed the 2015 Appropriation Bill into law. It was revealed that Jonathan decided to sign the budget into law a couple of weeks ago.
The Senate had passed the 2015 budget on April 28, following the passage of the same bill by the House of Representatives on April 23, with an expenditure budget of N4.493tn, up from the N4.425tn proposed by the Executive.
Nigerians were concerned to know if the budget will be signed before the May 29th handover date, now we know it's been done.
However, a Presidency source informed Punch, that the President signed the budget about two weeks ago immediately after the document passed by the National Assembly was transmitted to him.
The source, however, said he did not know why the President chose to sign the document without making it public.
When contacted, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, also confirmed that Jonathan had signed the budget.
The Senate, in passing the budget, slightly reduced the N2.607,601, 000,300 proposed by the Executive to N2.607,132,491,708 as recurrent expenditure and simultaneously scaled down the capital expenditure from N642,848,999,699 estimated in the proposal to N556,995,465,449.
The Chairman, Joint Senate Committee on Appropriation and Finance, Mohammed Maccido, explained that the details of the figure approved by the Senate in the document were not different from the version passed by the House of Representatives.
He added that the budget would be driven by $53 oil benchmark, an exchange rate of N190 to one US dollar; 2.2782m per barrel crude oil production per day; and a deficit gross domestic product of -1.12 per cent.
The budget also put fiscal deficit at N1.075tn; N953bn for debt service; N375.6bn as statutory transfers.
Education takes the lion's share of the budget with N392.3bn; followed by the military which gets N338.7bn while police commands and formations will receive N303.8bn.
In the same vein, N237bn was voted for the health sector; N153bn for the Ministry of Interior while N25.1bn was budgeted for the Ministry of Works.

Please free Rev. King & 35 Others Before May 29 – MASSOB To Jonathan

As may 29th approaches, the leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to order the release of its members before he hands over power on May 29.
The pro-Biafra group also appealed to Mr. President in the Spirit of forgiveness to grant amnesty to Chukwuemeka Ezeuko (Rev. King) who was condemned to death.
MASSOB also urged him to free members of other pro-Biafra groups who have been languishing in prison since 2007 as a parting gift to Igbo's before he leaves office.
In a press statement signed by MASSOB's National Director of Information, Comrade Uchenna Madu the group urged the outgoing president to act in line with the spirit of forgiveness, Justice, love and reconciliation being experienced among politician gladiators, opponents and enemies in Nigeria and also in the interest of the Igbo's.
He gave the names of the detained MASSOB members at Awka prison as: Sebastian Amadi, Ikechukwu Chikwem, Peter Igbokwe, Uchenna Nicholas, uche Idika, Casmir Odokara, Eni Kalu, Chidiebere Ezekwem, Chima Asoh (cripple), Ojimba Anyanwu and Ndubuisi Okam.
Others are Emmanuel Orji, Micheal Okezie, Ikechukwu Aghari, Mmaduabuchi Asika, Chinwike Irondi, Chukwuma Kalu.
Those at Onitsha prison are Innocent Orji, Chukwuebuka Ikenwa, Amah Onu, Okwudiri Basil (female) and Onyekachi Orji (female) while those in Enugu are Benjamin Onwuka (Leader of Biafra Zionist Movement), and 12 other members detained in Enugu prisons.
He lamented the plight of 22 members of MASSOB detained in Awka and Onitsha prisons since April 2007 and that of 13 members of the Biafra Zionist Movement detained in Enugu Prison since last two years on frivolous charges of treasonable felony.
Madu noted that out of the 22 detainees, one is a cripple while two of them are females.
"They have been abandoned in the prison yard to rot away for being MASSOB members. About 15 of them need serious medical attention including the females and crippled member", he said.
He noted that several court adjournments, transfer of judges who wants to establish justice and systematic delay of trail, has been used to frustrate their release at Federal High Court Awka and State high Court Ogidi and Federal High Court Enugu.
He said, "MASSOB appeals to President Jonathan to intervene and affect their release because of their aged parents who have suffered psychological trauma.
Also many of the detainees are bread winners of their families, and many of their children are no longer in schools, while their wives have gone back to their respective villages.
In the case of Chukwuemeka Ezeuko (Rev. King), the group argued that he is being persecuted in Nigeria because he is an Igboman.
"His trial was quickly rushed without fair hearing just to maintain a groups' interest of Yoruba Pentecostal Christian leadership who saw Rev. king as an obstacle to their domination of Pentecostal Churches in Nigeria", MASSOB insisted

Haaa!! Five Men Plan To Trek To Mecca For Buhari

A group of five married men have vowed to trek from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia to celebrate the victory of the president-elect, General Muhammadu in the March 28 presidential poll.

Speaking with newsmen in Bauchi on Sunday, the men; viz. Mohammed Inuwa, 45, Dahiru Aminu, 33, Abdullahi Usseini, 45, Abubakar Danjuma, 45, and Kabiru Saleh , 35, explained that their decision to embark on the foot journey was fueled by the undying love they have for the incoming leader.

Speaking on their behalf, Mohammed Inuwa said, "He has tried to be president for 12 years but Allah did not make it to be possible.

We believe he always won because he had the support of the majority.

This time around Allah has given him the power and so we decided to trek to Mecca by road to register our unflinching support to General Buhari"

They said they were ready to give their lives for the mission but, "we pray Allah will protect and guide us because we are committed to show our appreciation to General Buhari."

They disclosed that they have consulted widely with families and friends and have made adequate preparations for the journey which they estimated will take them at least, three months and will see them transverse countries of Chad, Sudan before reaching their destination in Mecca.

The men said that they hope to begin their trek on May 30, a day after the swearing-in of the incoming administration and asked Nigerians to pray for them to succeed in their mission.

A Man Who Trekked In Solidarity For APC Receives Title & N250,000 Cash Reward (Photo)

As we all know a lot of Nigerians have been trekking for one reason or the other,well one of them a man who trekked all the way from Taraba state to Maiduguri for a total of eleven days to celebrate the election victory of Governor Kashim Shettima of APC , pictured being turbaned as the 'Trekking king' by the Emir of Gwoza.

Aside from the "title", he also reportedly received a cash reward of about N250,000 from the Deputy governor of Borno state, Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha.

President elect Buhari Tackles Nigerian Military Over Its Inability To Recapture Lost Territories

In recent development the wicked sect of terrorist attack have seen many state captured by the boko haram,Buhari expressed his dissatisfaction at the military when he received members of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Kaduna his statement was as follows;

"The Nigerian military has never been so incapacitated like now. It is a shame that the military cannot secure 14 local governments out of the 774 local governments in the country.

What is more worrisome is the fact that the military had to rely on South African machinery before it could gain recent success in the war against Boko Haram.

My administration will concentrate on major areas on assumption of office, that is, insecurity, the economy, unemployment and corruption.

We will ensure we nip the insecurity in the bud.

The Nigeria Army could not do small thing, they have to bring in South African machinery to enable them record the recent gains in the Northeast.

The morale of the security forces will be raised. The military is incapacitated, it is a shame that the military cannot secure 14 out 774 Nigerian local governments in the northeast.

I don't know how many of you know this. I got to know about it few days ago that the recent gains in the northeast were because South African mercenary was used." Well we wish his administration all the best.
